“A Victorian Mourning” |
|
During the month of July, the Smith Home dons black and mourns the death of William Seagrove Smith, who died July 7, 1865 while serving in the Confederate Army. The exhibit highlights Victorian Mourning customs and clothing. |

“Treasures and Trifles” |
|
This exhibit features some of the thousands of artifacts stored until 2005 in the attic of the Smith Plantation Home. This exhibit demonstrates the Smith family’s tendency to save everything they owned from the trivial to the bizarre. |

Camp Yesteryear Monday, June 22- Friday, June 26, 10:00am-1:30pm This is a program with a fun schedule full of 19th Century games and crafts. Activities will include flower pressing, gold and gem panning, sewing, soap making, old-fashioned photographs, and a wildlife demonstration by the Chattahoochee Nature Center. At Home Clothing Exhibit July 1-31, 2009 This exhibit will feature original examples of Civil War era women, men and children’s underclothing as well as women’s wrappers and men’s dressing gowns. Wrappers and dressing gowns, or Banyans as they were sometimes called, were very commonly worn inside the home. “At Home” accessories such as women’s day and night caps, men’s smoking caps and house slippers, will also be on display. Original underclothing on display will include all the various layers of underclothing for women, men and children. A special addition to the collection is a pair of dress under-sleeves worn by the daughter of General William T. Sherman |

Trilogy Trolley Crawl Party at Three Great American Sites August 22, (new date), 7pm-11pm Join us for a fun filled celebration on a warm summer evening at Roswell’s three historic homes, Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall, and Smith Plantation. Barrington Hall Key West Beach Bash will feature live music of A1A-Jimmy Buffet parrot-head style music. Swing meets Jazz in the garden at Bulloch Hall where the atmosphere of New Orleans comes to life. Smith Plantation transforms into the streets of old San Antonio for an authentic southwestern fiesta. It’s a night of music, food and refreshments that is not to be missed! Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Come early and enjoy all three great “cities” in Historic Roswell. |
